Shopify is one of the top E-commerce development software of today. It is a cloud-based SaaS platform that enables you to lay out an online store and even trade personally with its POS. Today the software has over a million users in the world, that's due to the simplistic shop building that doesn't require any coding or technical knowledge. Shopify was founded in 2004 by two Canadians Tobias Lutke and Scott Lake to sell snowboarding gear. Today it is not just a base for an individual store but also hosts multiple shops online.

Now let's look at how you can use Shopify?

As discussed above, Shopify was launched just to sell snowboarding gear. But, today you can sell anything by making your store online, not just a store you can make other dedicated websites too! Let's have a look at what type of online stores and websites you can build on Shopify:

Boutiques
Multi-store hosting websites
Fundraising websites
Apparel stores
Daily necessity stores
Auction websites
Booking websites
Crowdfunding websites etc.

Don't worry if you aren't a developer or a tech enthusiast, you can simply start off your store with pure product displays and a blog. For advanced features, you can go for integrations and other template and feature options from Shopify's library. This will without a doubt give your store a boost with minimal effort from your side.

The prime feature of Shopify is its incredible user control and high flexibility. Wanna experience this?

Let's start building your Shopify store now!

It involves 10 simple steps:

Account Setup
Know the dashboard
Website Customization
Adding sales channel
Product addition and configuration
Payment setup
Domain setup
Site preparation
Plan Selection
App integration

Now let's have a look at each step in detail!

Account Setup

Go to the Shopify website and sign-up for the 14-day trial. All you need to do for that is fill in your email address, name your store and create a password. Next, you just need to answer optimization-focussed questions for a better experience. Then click on 'Next'. Now fill in a few more details as asked. Once done it will redirect you to your brand-new store's control center. Verify your email address and proceed.

Know the Dashboard

After the login, you will be redirected to a 4-point checklist on the left that will help you manage your online shopping business. Once you start off by clicking each step, it will show a drop-down menu. In the end, there will also be a 'Settings' category where you can update and modify the core functionality of the website.

Website Customization

Let's get started with decking up your online store! We'll start off with the looks!! Navigate to 'Online Store' and click on 'Themes'. Scroll down and select 'Choose A Theme'. Here you can choose from either of the three, free, paid, or offered by a third party. After installing the theme, click 'Customize'. This will redirect you to the page editor. From the left, you can alter the layout from the drag and drop modules. The bar at the top will help you edit website pages. You can customize the theme from the bottom in the left sidebar. For advanced changes click on 'Theme Actions'.

Adding sales channel

We'll set up the preferred sales channels now. Select '+ icon' next to 'Sales Channels'. Now select the sales channel that you wish to add. Remember that each sales channel has a different setup procedure. Shopify will take you through it.

Product addition and configuration

Now that the site is designed and the sales channels are set. We will proceed with adding products. For this, go to the left sidebar and click on 'Products'. Now select 'Add Product'. If you don't have any decided products to sell, you can even go for dropshipping by third-party integration. Choose the products and then click on 'Add to Import List', select 'Import List' and then choose ' Import to store'.

After this add the necessary product details and images. Now set the pricing and configure inventory and shipping. Now uncheck ' This is a physical product'. You can also create product collections. Once done click on 'Save Product'.

Payment setup

Let's get started with the payment set! Click on 'Settings' from the bottom of the left sidebar. You can go for any of the two options, Shopify Payments or integration with a third-party payment gateway. After you choose your payment gateway, select 'Complete Account Setup' and follow instructions to finish the setup.

Domain setup

In the control center, click on 'Online Store' and select 'Domains'. Here you can connect with an existing domain, transfer your domain or even purchase a new domain. To purchase, search for the domain name in the search console, choose from the suggestions by Shopify, and click on 'Buy'.

Site preparation

This is the step where you make your site ready to live! Once the above steps are covered, head to 'Settings' at the bottom of the left sidebar. Now click 'General' and enter the details required in the fields.

Now go back to 'Settings' and click on 'Shipping' and set up the shipping rates as per the different locations you want to ship to. You can also go for the free shipping setup. Lastly, select 'Taxes' and configure the taxation to be levied on orders according to different dynamics.

Plan Selection

We talked earlier that you have to start off free. But that's not how it will always be! The freeness stands for only 14 days. Now you are to pick a pricing plan for continuing the use of your Shopify website. You can choose from the three, Basic Shopify which is $29/month, Shopify which is $79/month, and Shopify Advanced which is $299/month.

All the plans offer 24/7 support, unlimited product limit, abandoned cart recovery, Shopify apps access, label creation, multi-sales channel selection, free SSL certificate, support for over 100 currencies, discount code and gift card offers, and also Shopify POS. Go to 'Themes' and disable passwords.

App integration

Now we shall set the site's functionality with other Shopify Apps. shopify development services offers beyond 6,000 apps. Click on 'Apps' in the left sidebar, here Shopify will recommend a few apps you can integrate according to your needs. You can visit the 'Shopify App Store' directly from the control center. Shopify has about 29 apps of its own!

As a bonus, you can also enable the different inbuilt marketing tools and analytics, for this you just need to navigate to 'Marketing' in the left sidebar and choose from the available campaign options. Now select 'Analytics' from the left sidebar to see the metrics and other Key Performance Indicators.

That was all!

Time to look at the top benefits of Shopify!

Effortless setup

You went through the process above, easy, isn't it? Shopify is one of the most convenient E-Commerce development software. You can instantly launch online store hosting and other installation issues. It's ideal for sellers who require a simple solution with no technicalities. The control center is fit for any commoner to start off with a store due to its clean and user-friendly nature. Everything can be done with a few clicks, downloads, and uploads.

Attractive themes

Shopify is known for its flexibility to create appealing websites. Shopify offers you a vast collection of themes and templates to give your website the needed looks and features. The interesting part is, that you can use each of the themes or templates as many times as you want. The platform not only lets you use its templates you can also download the desired theme/template from a third-party provider.

App extensions

As mentioned in the blog earlier, Shopify has beyond 6,000 apps that you can integrate your online store with. Remember to choose the applications that are in line with your business requirement. This way you can harness something more than what single-handedly Shopify offers. Get the best of more than a single app with the Shopify Apps extension.

Loading speed

Shopify is extensively used across the world. The E-commerce software has a very sturdy infrastructure and each element is powered with high optimization and software intelligence. This reduces the speed at which the website loads and also how it reacts to traffic interaction and clicks. After all, it's the loading speed that plays a vital role in rendering pleasing customer experiences.

Responsiveness

In today's time, most of the web traffic is from mobile phones. People love technology at their fingertips. Having a mobile responsive web solution/website is a must. Shopify development has default mobile interface adaptability. This gives uniformity of experience among users from multiple devices be it PCs, laptops, or even mobile phones.
